British rock superstar, Robbie Williams paid special homage to Shane Warne and John Farnham during his pre-match performance at the AFL Grand Final on Saturday in Melbourne. Ecstatic fans joined in the chorus of Farnham’s massive hit, “You’re The Voice” during Williams’ electrifying set.
Williams dedicated the song to Farnham who is currently recovering from marathon surgery to remove cancerous tumours from his mouth and jaw. A statement issued by the Farnham family today said the much-loved Australian singer watched the performance from his hospital bed and was “deeply touched by that very generous gesture”.

Farnham is said to be recovering well after his surgery, though it is highly unlikely the 73-year-old star will ever perform again. He was devastated when his good friend and colleague, Olivia Newton-John, recently lost her battle with cancer.

Australian cricket legend, Shane Warne, left the world in shock when he suddenly died in March this year at age 52. He was regarded by many to be one of the greatest sporting heroes of our time. Warne had many friends in celebrity circles and tributes came from all around the globe when he died. Williams dedicated the beautiful ballad, “Angels” to Warne, whom he described as “one of Australia’s greatest rock stars”.
